Studio Recording, Mixing and Mastering services
Hi, my name is Matt!
I'm a self-employed Audio Engineer based in Edinburgh, and I make cool music. My work spans between Classical and Rock/Metal, but I love working in genres outside of those confines (I've been known to master Hip Hop EPs, and mix contemporary dance pieces for performance). I'm also a session Violinist and Vocalist.

Classical Background
I studied Violin and Voice for four years at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, walking away in 2019 with the Linda Hirst Contemporary Music Award, and a lot of experience under my belt.
Seeing the Musicians' side of the glass when recording has given me a huge sense of empathy when working with people who aren't used to sessions, or who aren't used to the looming presence of a microphone. For those who are used to recording sessions however, a keen eye for detail, professionalism, and musical integrity await!

I've had the pleasure of engineering for Streatham St Bart's Chamber Orchestra, The Hi Lo Singers, The Rodolfus Choir and London Handel Festival. Assisting credits also include Chandos Records.
"I always prepare myself for an audition by listening to music I love, even if it's not the same genre I'm auditioning for"

These valuable words from my Voice teacher at Trinity Laban, convinced me to jot down the multitude of songwriting ideas in my head, and after graduating, to pursue building my skills as a pop/rock mixer.

I joined URM Academy in 2019, and since then my audio experience has upped exponentially. Unhindered by the Covid-19 Pandemic, I recorded my two singles with non-classical artists in 2020, and the following year recorded my first full album, and two EPs - all alongside existing Classical engineering.

Classical Location Recording
Armed with Pyramix, Dante networking, and an array of microphones, I capture Orchestras, Choirs, String Quartets and Soloists with uncompromising quality and precision. I've always taken pride in my approach to Classical Recording, as many musicians from the Classical world aren't as comfortable in front of a microphone as bands.

Prioritising the musicians' comfort is the best shortcut to achieving that "perfect take", and I've been praised on the results this has achieved with everyone I've worked with.
Able to work remotely, on location, or in a dry-hired studio, I'm known for chasing the perfect sound, and making every effort to bring an artist's ideas to life. My production and mixes consistently hit hard, and have piqued the curiosity of many local Edinburgh bands.
